Taking Intel’s competition to the next level with Zen 3-based Ryzen 5000 desktop processors, AMD is also very ambitious in server processors. The features of Zen 3 based 3rd generation EPYC Milan processors developed by AMD for servers have been leaked.
3rd generation AMD EPYC Milan features leaked
AMD, which has remained behind the competition with Intel on processor for years, re-entered the market with the Zen architecture. Intel, which has become a monopoly especially in the server issue, started to lose its market share due to the new server processors developed by AMD.
Benchmark scores and specifications of the AMD EPYC 7713 processor have been published on a website. Tested with the Gigabyte MZ72-HB0-00 server motherboard, the processor contains 64 cores and 128 threads. In server motherboards, each chip comes with 32 MB L2 and 256 MB L3 cache. The tests show that the model has a clock speed of 2.45 GHz, but it is unfortunately unknown whether the processor is overclocked or not.
The score of the test with 2 AMD EPYC 7713 placed it in the 4th place in the benchmark list. It was not overlooked that the EPYC 7713 model performed better than the system with 4 Intel Xeon Platinum (Cascade Lake-SP) processors.
Produced with 7nm technology and compatible with SP3 socket, the processor has a TDP value between 120W and 225W. The model with PCIe 4.0 and DDR4 memory support is expected to be introduced in 2020.
