Xiaomi Patents a Periscope Camera Phone
This year we saw two telephones coming from OPPO and Huawei with a periscope camera. Xiaomi was also included in this fury with the patent of a new smartphone.
The periscope camera we see in the Huawei P30 Pro is a type of camera that enhances both photography and zooming as much as possible when shooting with phone cameras. After Huawei uses this camera in the P30 Pro, Xiaomi seems to want to be part of the fury.
The patent was filed at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) with photographs showing the front and rear camera installations in detail. It has a pop-up front camera and four rear cameras, three of which are round like normal camera slots, while one is a square slot used in periscope cameras.

Apart from these, the right side of the phone has volume keys and power key. Therefore, the left side is thought to have a SIM card slot. Underneath the phone is a USB-C charging port and a speaker. Before this filing at WIPO, Xiaomi had a similar filing at the Chinese Patent Office. This doesn’t necessarily mean that Xiaomi will use a periscope camera on her next flagship phone, but it increases the likelihood that it can be used.
