Chinese tech giants Xiaomi have announced their goal of becoming the world’s largest smartphone supplier by 2023, surpassing Apple and Samsung.
Two key people at Xiaomi simultaneously announced the company’s plans to become the world’s largest smartphone supplier. In addition, this goal is planned to be realized very soon.
Liu Weibing, Vice President of Xiaomi and president of the Redmi brand, talked about the company’s big plans. According to him, the company plans to become the world’s number one smartphone supplier, bypassing not only Apple, but also Samsung, and believes this could happen as early as 2023.
Interestingly, Xiaomi president Lei Jun sets more modest tasks for the team. Liu Weibing commented on the company’s CEO’s approach: “Although Mr. Lei Jun wants Xiaomi’s mobile phone business to reach the top of the world in three to five years, we hope to surpass Samsung and become number one by 2023.”
Xiaomi currently ranks third among all smartphone manufacturers. Liu Weibing is confident they will surpass Apple at the end of the second quarter of this year. The next milestone will be the victory over Samsung.
In the first quarter of 2021, the South Korean company continued to lead with a market share of 22%, followed by Apple with 15% and Xiaomi with 14%, according to research firm Canalys. It is important to note that the Chinese company’s growth rate is 62%, and the slowdown in sales has not yet been noticed. In addition, Xiaomi climbed to the top in many countries such as Russia, Spain, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Croatia, Lithuania, Malaysia, India, Nepal, Myanmar, and Colombia. The company ranks second in Europe.
