Smart phone manufacturers are in a sector where competition is intense. In order to stay up to date on the market, each brand needs to improve its offers. Therefore, companies are getting patents with many great ideas for the future. Now, Chinese technology giant Xiaomi’s patents showcase three unique new pop-up camera designs.
The patents were found in the Chinese National Property Administration (CNIPA) and were for the selfie camera of an unknown smartphone. The first has a dual front and rear camera installation, so the patent can be considered to be based on a new opening mechanism. On the other hand, the rest of the patents detail the installation of a double, triple or even a five camera.
The designs are strictly for the camera module, because the rest of the smartphone design, as seen in patents, seems to have differentiated them only from the number of camera segments. In particular, the patents provide a unique pull-out camera design in which the rear and front cameras are located on the same mechanism on both sides. This is unheard of at the moment because these sensors were never compressed into such a small space.
Although it will be a technical miracle and other brands will try to incorporate their designs into their technologies when they see their success; unfortunately, it is not known whether Xiaomi planned to follow and develop it. No formal approval has been made as of now, but the interesting feature may be useful on future smartphones.
