Which iPhone 13 models will come with a 120Hz display

The iPhone 12 models, introduced last September, disappointed some customers with the screen refresh rate. Apple, which this year finally switched all its products to OLED panel instead of LCD, lagged behind its competitors, leaving the refresh rate at 60Hz. But that seems to be changing with the iPhone 13.

According to reports, Apple will use LTPO displays that offer a high refresh rate of 120Hz on its upcoming models. The latest shared leak revealed which phones will use this display technology.

Which iPhone 13 models will come with LTPO display?

The claims made some time ago were that only one iPhone 13 model would use a screen with LTPO technology, offering a high refresh rate. The information, which has not yet been confirmed by official sources, has angered Apple fans. But the new allegations from a trusted analyst named Ross Young have poured some water on us.

Posting on Twitter, Young said: “I’ve been hearing rumors from the media and industry recently that Apple will only use an LTPO display on one model. I can confirm that this is not the case.”

Although LTPO will not be exclusive to the single variant, this does not mean that all iPhone 13 models will come out with the same technology. Answering a question he was asked about this, Young said that the new display technology will only appear on Pro models. However, this information has not been confirmed at this time. We have to wait for the launch in September to learn all the details about the new models.

What is an LTPO display?

The LTPO display refers to a specific type of technology that appears on OLED screens. Oled, which we see in many products such as smartwatches and phones, works in the same way as the LED. However, it provides greater efficiency by using thin, light-emitting films instead of LED bulbs. In this way, the energy consumed is significantly reduced. LTPO is a version of this technology that does not require additional components between the display controller and GPU to achieve a dynamic refresh rate. More efficient than standard OLED, this method provides a higher refresh rate. LTPO technology developed by Apple has so far mostly appeared on Samsung phones.
