The AirPods Pro 2 will most likely be released in September and available for purchase this year. According to the leaks, the AirPods Pro 2nd generation will be discussed in terms of features rather than design.
In addition to completely new features, the second generation AirPods Pro will most likely retain some of the features of last year’s AirPods. Here are the anticipated new features and improvements for AirPods Pro 2:
According to Apple analyst Kuo, the new AirPods Pro will have a significantly improved wireless chip over the H1 chip found in the original AirPods Pro. The new chip will be known as the H2 chip. KUO did not specify the benefits of the new chip, but it is reasonable to expect that the advanced chip in the second generation will improve sound quality, delay, active noise closure, and transparent mode. The newly developed chip may also support Apple’s lossless sound.
AirPods Pro has been discontinued for nearly three years. The AirPods Pro 2 should have a significantly longer battery life. The third generation AirPods, introduced last year, provide up to 6 hours of listening time on a single charge, while the current AirPods Pro provides up to 4.5 hours. Even when active noise cancellation and transparent mode are turned off, AirPods Pro can last up to 5 hours on a single charge.
When the current AirPods vanish, it will be difficult to locate them. The charging box does not play sound, and it is difficult to find because the headphones are in the charging box. In the lost mode, the charging box of the AirPods Pro 2 will be able to make a sound, allowing you to be easily found. Furthermore, the charging box of the 2nd generation AirPods Pro, like the charging box of the 3rd generation AirPods, can be IPX4 water and cress resistant. Currently, the AirPods Pro is not water-resistant and does not come with a charging case. There will still be lightning ports on the charging box. Apple does not intend to transition to USB-C before 2023.
Skin detection is another feature that the third-generation AirPods will include. The first AirPods Pro failed miserably at in-ear detection. The skin detection sensor provides more reliable in-ear detection than the dual optical sensors in the AirPods Pro. Apple claims that the skin detection sensor detects whether the AirPods are in the ear, in the pocket, or on the table and stops stealing when they are removed.
According to rumors, the AirPods Pro 2 will include advanced movement sensors aimed at fitness tracking. A motion sensor accelerator is already built into the AirPods Pro. With improvements to this sensor, fitness tracking may be possible. Fitness can now be used without an Apple Watch in iOS 16.
The design of the AirPods Pro 2 will not change significantly. The new AirPods Pro’s future-free, more compact design, similar to Beats Studio Buds, was introduced in 2020, but new leaks indicate that Apple will not make significant changes to the design.
As you may recall, AirPods Pro was introduced in October 2019 with a press release on the Apple news page and was released two days later. The new AirPods Pro will not be available until September or October of 2022, but rather in September or October of this year.
