Twitter is suspending applications for blue ticks, which it recently announced. Bluetick verification, which is met with great interest by users, pauses new application acceptances due to excessive demand.
The company said in a statement that applications for the blue tick are being reviewed. It also notifies users that it will reopen requests.
We’re rolling in verification requests. So we gotta hit pause on accepting any more for now while we review the ones that have been submitted.— Twitter Verified (@verified) May 28, 2021
We’ll reopen requests soon! (we pinky swear)
Applications for the blue tick opened on May 20. It was also stated in the first days that the application was opened that the process would take several days or weeks. However, in the current situation, it seems likely that this period will be much longer.
Applications were closed again after just 8 days of opening. Many predicted a fairly high number of applications.
Having a blue tick is a huge privilege on Twitter. Moreover, Twitter has not been receiving blue tick applications for a long time. As a result, companies and individuals from different sectors make their applications.
In the coming days, Twitter says it will roll out blue tick applications again. We will see in more detail in the coming days how the system will work.
What is Twitter Blue Tick?
It is possible to define blue tiki as verification of the account you own or that your company owns. This allows you to have a badge that is both remarkable and reassuring for people who visit your profile.
It comes across as a badge that we are quite used to seeing in accounts such as various government officials, companies, influencers. Twitter has also recently started reporting official posts and titles on profiles.
Twitter disabled the feature after a 2017 incident in which a racist account was verified. In the meantime, some improvements to blue tick verification seem to have been considered.
However, it is possible to predict that density-based problems will persist for some time in blue tick verification, which is seen as a great privilege.
Twitter attracts a lot of attention between such developments and social media platforms. It recently rivaled the Clubhouse with its Twitter Spaces feature.
Twitter Spaces has also recently become active for users with the desktop version. Feedback from users seems to be quite positive.
