Samsung will start delivering Galaxy products by drone in Ireland. Some Samsung customers in Ireland will be able to pick up their orders by a courier who can take to the skies and reach them in a matter of minutes. The tech giant has teamed up with Manna Drone Delivery to make drone delivery an option for Irish customers as long as they buy the latest Galaxy devices.
Models suitable for drone delivery include the S21 Ultra, Galaxy Buds Pro, Galaxy Tab S7, Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy A Series. In addition, orders only need to be placed through Samsung’s Irish website. Let’s also note that this option only applies to customers currently located in a town called Oranmore.
The drone service is currently only available in one town
For related deliveries, Manna uses special space-class drones that can fly at altitudes of 164 to 262 feet and speeds exceeding 60 km/h. The company says a drone is fast enough to reach Oranmore customers within three minutes of leaving the dispatch center.
The company is also working with Tesco and other local businesses to deliver groceries, books and medicines to people in the area.
Commenting on the collaboration, Samsung Ireland President Eamonn Grant said, “The superior customer experience is at the heart of what we do. With this new service, we embrace what we believe will be the future of retail. In the current environment, there is no better time to offer a contactless alternative to “click and receive”, and we are really excited to partner with Manna to achieve this,” he said.
While availability is currently limited, the two companies say they are “willing to expand this service nationwide in the future.”
