Apple has released the Watchos 8.7.1 update for the Apple Watch Series 3 as well as a security update for iPhone and Mac computers. An important error of users has been resolved.
Apple released an update for iOS 15.6.1 for iPhones on Wednesday, and 12.5.1 for Macs. It does not bring updates, new features, or major changes. In addition to the urgent released software updates, which also closed the critical security vulnerability in Safari, an update was released for Apple Watch 3 users.
According to the version notes, the Watchos 8.7.1 update was fixed with an error that caused an unexpected restart of the Apple Watch 3.
The Watchos 8.7.1 update can only be installed on the Apple Watch Series 3. This update does not appear for the Apple Watch Series 4 and newer models. According to the Apple Security Updates page, Watchos 8.7.1 does not bring any changes other than correcting the error that affects the Apple Watch Series 3 users.
With the update of the iOS 15.6.1 and macOS Monterey 12.5.1, Apple closed a security vulnerability that allowed third-party applications to random code with core privileges. Safari’s web engine was remedied with another security vulnerability in WebKit. These security deficits affect both iPhone and Mac users.
