Sony mistakenly announced a subscription service, VGC reported. A website posted on the PlayStation Poland site revealed Sony’s plan. Sony managed to surprise many PS users by accidentally announcing the PlayStation Plus Video Pass. The website, which was activated briefly today, revealed some details of service exclusive to PS Plus subscribers.
PS users encountered a Video Pass while waiting for a Game Pass alternative
The PlayStation Plus Video Pass will be exclusive to PS Plus subscribers. However, PlayStation users were waiting for an alternative service to the Xbox Game Pass service. The page, which was accidentally posted today, featured a logo of the PS Plus Video Pass and a description of the service. The description also said, “A new benefit for PlayStation Plus users for a limited time… PS Plus Video Pass is an active trial service from 22.04.21 to 22.04.22. The subscription benefit is available to PS Plus users in Poland.”
In the image shared by VGC, we can also see a few productions in the PS Plus Video Pass. These productions appear as Venom, Zombieland Double Tap, and Bloodshot. It is unclear whether this resulting service is only open to one region or the whole world. Last month, Sony announced it would stop selling TV and movie content through PlayStation Store by the end of this year. However, you will still be able to access the TV and movie content you have already received. The biggest reason Sony is making such an attempt is the Xbox Game Pass service. Sony wants to increase the value of PS Plus by adding new services to PS Plus. Still, the best thing Sony needs to do is offer a service against Xbox Game Pass. Sony will add some value to the PS Plus Video Pass, along with the movie rights it holds. However, PS users expect a competitor to the Xbox Game Pass service.
