Seagate introduced its new hard drive with the world’s first NVMe connection. The new hard drive with three different entries will be shipped to private customers first in 2022.
Seagate, which has a large user rate with its storage products, introduced the world’s first hard drive that can be connected via NVMe at the Open Computing Project event.
The new hard drive, which comes with PCIe3 and PCIe4 support, will be released in the coming years. In addition, it will have a three-mode connection system as SAS, SATA, and NVMe. Today, the development of SSD technology and the gradual decrease in prices have caused the usage rate of hard disks to decrease considerably. Although a hard drive with an NVMe connection sounds interesting, we can say that the speed limits of the SATA port can be exceeded.
The company, which does not provide information about the speed values of the new technology, will present the first products to be produced in 2022 to private customers. Considering that hard drives are cheaper than SSD technology, the new technology can be quite useful on servers and workstations.
