‘Samsung’ Announces World’s First 108 MP Camera Sensor
Samsung has officially announced an invention that will bring smartphone cameras closer to professional cameras. The 108 MP resolution sensor, which we have received news from recently, was introduced with the leading technologies it contains. The sensor will also be on smartphones soon.
Samsung, the leader of the smartphone industry, has achieved a success that will make you forget all the previous achievements in the field of camera. South Korean technology giant, Xiaomi as a result of his work in the world announced the first sensor that has exceeded 100 MP.
Samsung’s 108 MP camera called ISOCELL Bright HMX is known as Xiaomi and Samsung’s second recent work. The pair, which recently joined forces, also mentioned an Xiaomi smartphone using a 64 MP Samsung sensor called ISOCELL GW1.
Samsung’s ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor has a 0.8 image sensor, similar to the ISOCELL GW1 with 64 MP resolution, but is a first on smartphones, increasing the sensor size to 1 / 1.33 inches. This offers a resolution of 12032×9024 pixels as well as the ability to bring the ‘flagship’ DSLR camera quality to the devices in our pocket.
The large sensor size allows the HMX to receive much more light in low light. What’s more, the Smart ISO (Smart-ISO) feature allows the sensor to select the right ISO according to the environment. The HMX also uses Samsung’s Tetracell and ISOCELL Plus technologies to create brilliant 27MP images. In addition, 6K (6016×3384 pixels) videos can be shot at 30 frames per second.
Yongin Park, Samsung Electronics’s assistant general manager of sensor, said:
Samsung is constantly pioneering new technologies in pixel and logic technologies. ISOCELL image sensors are an example to capture the world the way our eyes see it. As a result of the joint project with Xiaomi, the ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor, capable of shooting over 100 million pixels, producing unique colors thanks to Tetracell and ISOCELL Plus technologies, has brought many innovative features.
After confirming that Xiaomi is the first phone manufacturer to use this sensor, many people have focused on the new Xiaomi Mi Mix 4. The first 108 MP phone is expected to be the Mi Mix 4, while the mass production of the Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor will begin later this month.
