Samsung 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 SSD specifications
This will be the first product of Samsung’s transition to the PCIE 4.0 980 PRO SSD standard appeared at CES 2020, but was not released. For better performance with the 2280 form factor driver, PCI 4.0 compatible platforms are required.
Samsung uses a customizable Elpis controller for the new driver. With MLC NAND memory modules that allow 3-bit data in a cell, read speed 7000MB/s and write speed 5000MB/s are possible. In case of random access, it offers 800,000 IOPS reads and 1,000,000 write values. In terms of capacity, these indicators decrease slightly.
To avoid warming, the company used a nickel-coated thermal imager on the controller. In addition, there is a copper film for the card. Dynamic Thermal Guard provides optimal temperature.
The 980 PRO PCIE 4.0 SSD driver will come with 250GB, 500GB, and 1TB capacities. So far, information on in which countries and at what price they will be issued is not available.
