Nokia’s peak company HMD Global has launched its 5G-capable Nokia X20 phone. The company has renewed its smartphone range with its new budget-friendly model to compete with big firms such as Samsung and Apple.
Finland-based HMD Global acquired Nokia’s mobile phone division from Microsoft in 2016. The company, which had a license to design and sell Nokia mobile phones after the acquisition, has since launched several smartphones.
Nokia X20 features
Announcing three different smartphone families, HMD Global positioned its new models in different segments: X, G and C. Offering advanced hardware in the X series, the company features mid-segment features in the G series. The C series comes with entry-level hardware.
Nokia’s budget-friendly model X20 welcomes users with a 6.67-inch screen with a resolution of 1,080×2,400. The phone has a 64 Megapixel quad camera setup on the back, one of which has a 5 Megapixel ultra wide angle and Dual Sight feature. One of the other two cameras has a 2 Megapixel macro shooting sensor and the other has a 2 Megapixel depth sensor.
Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 480 5G chipset, the X20 has 5G connectivity support. Launched with two different RAM options, 6 GB and 8 GB, the smartphone offers 128 GB of storage. In addition, the device’s memory can be increased up to 512 GB with microSD card support.
On the front of the X20 is a fixed lens-oriented selfie camera with a resolution of 32 Megapixels. The next generation phone also has “dual vision” feature, which allows you to use two cameras of the phone at the same time to capture different angles from a shot.
HMD has promised three years of full protection for its newly introduced phones. In this case, the company will provide security updates service for three years and provide full warranty. There will also be a special case for phones that it offers as an environmental initiative.
Nokia continues to struggle in the smartphone market with Chinese companies such as Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi. The Nokia X20 5G, the price of which is not yet known, is scheduled to go on sale in May.
