Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo is among the most popular companies with both phones and ecosystem products. The company that recently introduced foldable and new design phones and the innovative company are also facing a different camera design this time.
Oppo remains innovative in camera design
Oppo, while other smartphone brands are busy promoting phones with pop-up cameras; it introduced devices with different design camera modules, such as shark fin (Shark-Fin). The company has now filed an application for a patent for a new pop-up camera module that will allow it to hide its cameras from the back of the phone.
According to LetsGoDigital, this smartphone will have a pair of camera setups that turn on when needed. Although we see smartphones with pop-ups with dual selfie cameras, the design Oppo plans to make is slightly different. According to the patent, the company wants to place two cameras in the phone’s body with the main camera and ultra-wide camera support.
How does Oppo’s new generation camera design work?
There are no camera sensors inside the pop-up module. Instead, points on both sides of the device include two prisms that allow it to take a selfie or an image when the module is turned on. These prisms will be placed in such a way that the light from outside is reflected in the sensor and the image will be obtained.
This new design is quite similar to periscope camera design; Details and practical applications are not yet very clear, as they are still in the patent phase. However, it is foreseen that both prisms can be used to capture a single image. It remains to be heard whether this camera module will be used on a smartphone that you can easily get out of test labs and buy.
