According to SensorTower, one of the market research companies, the most downloaded apps were revealed in April. Number one on the list appears to have remained in place since last month. Josh, who was able to top the list with a rapid rise last month, is no longer on the list.
Despite competing with the ‘Shorts’ app made by TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube, it again managed to top the charts in April 2021 and once again came in number one, according to a report from Sensor Towers.
Although the app was banned in India, the largest user market of the time, and has many competitors in the country, the app managed to grow faster as more users came to the short video app.
At this rate, the app is on track to become the next billion-user platform. In April, the countries with the most downloads in the app, which had more than 59 million downloads, were Brazil with 13 percent, followed by Douyin with 12 percent.
The other top five on the list are Facebook-owned apps. Facebook became the second most downloaded non-gaming app worldwide last month with more than 53 million uploads.
The countries with the highest Facebook uploads were India with 26 percent, followed by the United States with 7 percent. Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger rounded out the top five most downloaded non-gaming apps worldwide during the month.
When we look at the other applications on the list, it seems that users find themselves on Telegram in search of new applications due to the data policy announced by WhatsApp. Meanwhile, CapCut, which also helps make short videos for apps like TikTok and Instagram Reels, continues to be on the list.
The SensorTower report does not include apps preinstalled on devices. Based only on initial downloads. On the other hand, apps with alternative versions, such as Facebook and Facebook Lite, are considered singular.
