Apple plan to shift iPad production to Foxconn’s facilities in Vietnam this year. Thus, iPad production will be out of China for the first time. He’ll be followed by other devices.
Since Apple unveiled its first generation iPad model, the market’s leading tablet model has always been made in China. The US state’s changing policies towards China are also forcing Apple to change strategy.
Apple has been partnering and investing in producing its products outside China for some time. In this way, many devices such as iPhone SE, AirPods can be produced in countries such as India or Vietnam.
Now the move for the iPad will come. Apple is planning to shift iPad production out of China for the first time, sources say. Foxconn’s facilities in Vietnam will begin production of iPads by mid-year. Apple will shift a significant portion of iPad production to these facilities. Some of the production of the new iPad Pro and classic iPad model will come out of these bands.
It is said that Apple will pay more attention to the South East Asia region in the coming period. HomePod mini production is done in Vietnam and airpods production will be further increased at the same facilities. Pegatron, on the other hand, announced that it would increase iPhone production in India with an investment of about $1 billion. Apple wants not to be too affected by embargoes, but not to be short of stock by spreading production to more countries.
