Instagram blocks live streams from Jerusalem

Israeli police continue to attack the congregation at the Masjid al-Aqsa mosque in the Old City of occupied East Jerusalem. 205 Palestinians were wounded when Israeli police attacked the congregation praying at the Masjid al-Aqsa mosque.

Those who want to live-stream what is happening on social media face a challenge. Social media giant Instagram is blocking live streams from Jerusalem, according to tweets.

The post, posted by Twitter user Marva Fatafta, claims Instagram Live has also been blocked and some have been interrupted.

In the text on the alert screen: “Live Video Sharing Blocked. Posts on your account were recently removed because they violated our Community Guidelines, so live video sharing was temporarily blocked,” the statement said.

Instagram allegedly blocked not only live streams but also hashtags. The word #الاقصي cannot be shared, according to a tweet posted by Twitter user Khalidalbaih.

In the text on the warning screen: “This Hashtag Is Hidden. Posts for #الاقصي are limited because the community has reported some content that doesn’t comply with Instagram’s Community Guidelines.” statements were made.
