Huawei Introduces New Artificial Intelligence Processor Ascend 910
On August 23, Huawei officially introduced its new and powerful artificial intelligence equipment. In addition, the artificial intelligence framework MindSpore has come to light.
Chinese smartphone maker Huawei has developed a number of strategies to overcome the challenge of US sanctions. One of these strategies was to produce everything the company could do itself. The company, having problems with Nvidia and Qualcomm, produced its own artificial intelligence processor chip.
The artificial intelligence chip Ascend 910 AI was built using Da Vinci architecture. Thus, the system became much faster than the first version mentioned last year.
The Ascend 910 achieves 256 teraflops in half-floating point operations (FP16) and 512 teraflops in integer accuracy calculations (INT8). Powerful in terms of performance, the processor consumes less than 350W of electricity as predicted. The processor’s electricity consumption is only 310W.

In a typical training session, the Ascend g910 and MindSphere duo were twice as fast as TensorFlow.
Meet Huawei’s artificial intelligence framework MindSpore
MindSpore has been introduced as Huawei’s new framwork for artificial intelligence, which supports the elements of artificial intelligence and can work in any scenario and any device. According to Huawei, this system contains 20% less kernel code for native language processing (NLP) than typical market-leading counterparts when it comes to neural networks. This increases productivity by at least 50%.
Xu said that MindSpore will be open source in the first quarter of next year and will help developers work better.
