Hacker Group Attacks Yandex with Support from 5 Countries Including USA

A group called Five Eyes attacked the Russian-based search engine Yandex. If hackers were targeted, Yandex had user accounts.

The attack on Yandex in the fall of last year is thought to have been carried out by a group called Five Eyes Group; The United States, Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Canada said that received support.

Reuters reported that hackers working in the intelligence services attacked Yandex, the so-called “Google of Russia”. According to the report, hackers were looking for information that shows how Yandex encrypts user accounts. Hackers intended to use this information to gain unauthorized access to Yandex’s users’ accounts.

According to Reuters, the cyber attacks of the aforementioned countries to Russia are often not reflected in the media, but earlier this month, the news that the United States was infected with Russia’s energy grid came up. In the spring, the US said it would strengthen its cyber-attack unit and take more aggressive approaches to online threats.
