The News Showcase program, created as part of Google’s desire to connect its users with reliable news, will now be accessible from the desktop as well.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced the launch of the Google News Showcase program last October, which has set aside $1million to offer paid licensing options to news publishers. The program, which has been limited to Android and iOS since its launch, is now also accessible from the desktop.
Google works with trusted and well-established news organizations to enable News Showcase to host much more qualified content. The news of the organizations included in the program, which can now be accessed from the desktop, can be viewed with the cards under the heading ‘Most read the news.
News Showcase will also be accessible directly from the navigation pane on the left. Users will be able to follow local, national, and global news of the publishers included in the program here.
Although the company aims to provide its users with the most accurate information by avoiding rising information pollution and false news worldwide, the program is currently only available in 8 countries. Google aims to expand the program with more countries in the future.
