Google’s mail service is now testing existing icons in Gmail, Android and iOS apps in the desktop version. Some users began to see similar icons in Gmail’s app in their desktop browsers, the news site Android Police quoted them as saying.
Rather than fully filled gray icons, the new icons with outline design aim to connect the mobile and desktop Gmail experience more closely, Android Police reports.
The new icon designs, which are not noticed at first glance, attract attention with their thin-looking structure. Gmail also doesn’t undergo any changes in functionality, and thanks to the new icons, it adapts a little more between the look and feel of mobile and desktop interfaces.
It is thought that new icons, which are not yet widely seen in users, will gradually reach all users. It is also possible that the renewed icons will be another A/B test for selected users.
