Popular messaging app Discord has launched its new feature of the Clubhouse alternative. Users on the platform can now host live audio-based events with a new window called ‘Stage Channel’.
Clubhouse’s rapidly growing popularity has affected many large mobile apps. Facebook began testing Live Audio rooms with a similar study. Twitter, on the other hand, continues to develop a beta version for the Spaces feature. In addition, platforms such as LinkedIn, TikTok and Telegram have already started preparing their own voice chat rooms. But Discord acted above all and released the expected innovation.
Discord has launched new voice-based chat rooms. Here, he says, users can do fun activities such as interviews, book clubs and even karaoke; users can host conversations without the need for challenging permissions, he said.
In many ways, the new Discord feature, which is called Stage Channel, is quite similar to the Clubhouse. Public speaking rooms will be managed by moderators to control who gets the microphone. Participants will also ask permission to raise their hands to have a say.
Unlike many similaritys to Clubhouse, Discord’s Stage Channel feature will not show all existing live events to users on the homepage. Only the activities of the groups you’re in will feature in the discovery menu on the platform. With other large communities, you’ll rarely meet.
The Discord platform is currently available on Microsoft Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, and the web version. Some users said they had difficulty accessing the new feature, but the company said chat channels could be accessed by updating from the app store.
