Details of the first major system update for the Playstation 5 have emerged. The update will be released tomorrow. You can find the details in our news.
As you know, Microsoft and Sony consoles came out in November 2020. After the release, the updates started coming, which is inevitable with almost any technological product. Recently, details of the first major update to the Playstation 5 were revealed.
Only details of the update were shared for today, the update will be released tomorrow. If we look at the details of the update, the most notable item is undoubtedly the game saving feature with USB.
You will be able to store your games on USB
Starting tomorrow, gamers will be able to save their games with a USB stick and plug them into the Playstation. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to play the game directly via USB or expand the playstation 5’s internal memory. When you play the game, you will be able to plug your USB stick into the device, copy the game’s files to the PlayStation 5 and play your game. Sony says that this copying process will be faster than re-downloading the game or copying it from another disc.
The reason why games cannot be played on USB is because they run faster due to the high technology of SSD. Therefore, it is not possible to run games from storage other than the built-in SSD. Games that you transfer or copy back to internal storage will automatically update as needed. You can also select which game modes (such as Story Mode or Multiplayer) you want to install for specific titles that support this option.
In addition to the ability to copy games to USB, a few other new features come with the update. Among them, new additions to the PlayStation app for mobile devices; also new is shared play between PS5 and PS4. You can find all the details here.
Users will also be able to add new storage to their PlayStation 5s, support for which is coming this summer.
