Cortex A78C processor announced by Arm

With the development of technology, competition in the processor market has increased. In the past months, Apple has stated that it will produce its own Arm-based processors instead of Intel processors and will use these processors in MacBook and Mac models. Now, the Cortex-A78C processor has been announced by Arm. The processor for laptops is a renewed version of the Cortex-A78 processor.

As competition in the laptop space is increasing, 11th generation Intel processors also come with a very powerful internal graphics card that may regret Apple.

ARM Cortex-A78C processor introduced

The processor, which comes with more caches, can reach high clock speeds and has 8 high performance cores. Cortex-A78C, which is a first on the Arm side due to its core design, aims to make an ambitious entry into the market. About 4 years ago, Microsoft agreed with Qualcomm to use Arm-based mobile processors with Windows 10. However, Arm-based Windows 10 devices, although expensive, were low-performance.

The biggest feature of computers with Arm-based Windows 10 operating system is that they can promise very long battery life. Arm, wanting to overcome the performance problem, started developing custom kernels for Windows 10. Now, the first example Cortex A78C processor is introduced. The processor with 8 performance-oriented cores achieved a first on the Arm side. Under normal circumstances, 8-core processors developed by Arm would be divided into two as performance core and power saving core.

With the Cortex A78C, performance-oriented 6 and 8-core Arm-based processors were also paved. Although not all the features of the processor are disclosed, it is stated that it comes with a total of 8 MB L3 cache. The Cortex-A78Ci with 60 GB / s bandwidth was first introduced at the event that Apple will organize on November 10. It is already wondering how Apple and Arm will compete for the laptop processor market with low power consumption.
