Argentine shock to Google Domain loses its name

Google has lost its official domain address google.com.ar in Argentina. Nicolas Kurona, who posts Bitcoin online and is known for being a Trump supporter, bought google.com.ar for just 270 Argentine pesos, the Rest of the World reported.

Realizing that Google’s domain was available to anyone, Nicolas Kurona paid 270 Argentine pesos to become the new owner of google.com.ar.

Kurona, who shared the news on his personal Twitter account, quickly became the center of attention. Low domain security in Argentina has long been the subject of criticism. One user posted ‘Even Google is not safe in Argentina’.

It remains unclear how such an incident occurred, according to Google. At first, it was estimated that the domain name had expired. However, Argentine researcher Andres Vazquez said the domain name was renewed in July 2020.

Even if at least one year of renovations has taken place, Kurona should be able to buy google.com.ar in a few months.

For this reason, it is thought that Google’s domain name can be purchased due to a vulnerability in the country’s domain service provider NIC. Google retracted its official domain name after a brief outage. However, it was not clear whether Nicolas Kurona had been paid for it.
