The fragility that occurs at later ages can cause a series of ailments that can lead to death. With watchOS 7, Apple Watch will be able to monitor for signs of vulnerability.
With apple’s many collaborations and projects with clinical institutions, the Apple Watch is no longer a smartwatch. It can save the user’s life by detecting critical conditions such as heart arrhythmia or falls. Now fragility has been added to the list.
What is fragility?
The disorder, called fragility or weakness, is a state of weakness that occurs in later years due to metabolism and immune system. Fragility caused by factors such as decreased physiological reserves or stress; weight loss, weakness, inactivity, decreased walking speed. As a result, conditions such as hospitalization or death can be seen.
Apple has also taken action for the fragility, which clinical tests try to understand based on specific indexes. Research shows that a 6-minute walking test results in 83 percent precision and 60 percent specificity with the Apple Watch. Clinical tests can achieve 90 percent precision and 85 percent specificity.
Tests examined 110 veteran subjects with heart disease using the iPhone 7 and Apple Watch Series 3. In addition to the special application called VascTrac, the 6MWT measurement feature in watchOS 7 was also used. The University of Stanford says in a report that the level of vulnerability can be monitored remotely with the Apple Watch.
Authorities foresee that the digital healthcare sector will become a major market in the coming years. In particular, the wide range of diagnostic detection capabilities offered by wearable devices will enable it to be adopted by a wide audience. Apple is currently making significant investments to take the lead in this race.
