Apple is working on two new accessories, a mix of iPad and HomePod
The first accessory developed is a TV-oriented product with a variety of skills. The developed product is expected to provide access to games and videos powered by Apple TV. The accessory will be soundbar-shaped and will feature a built-in speaker. Thus, the accessory will support some HomePod features, such as remote playback with voice assistant Siri. Finally, the accessory will also have camera support. In this way, it will be possible to make video calls with the new accessory.
The second accessory is being released to rival Amazon and Google. This accessory will be a combination of iPad and HomePod. This accessory will be able to offer video chat like any other accessory developed for Apple TV. But it will do all these operations with its own screen, not through a TV.
Bloomberg, the source of all these leaks, notes that Apple is merging its HomePod and Apple TV engineering groups in 2020.
There have been no hardware updates for Apple TV since 2017. For this reason, it is stated that a hardware update for Apple TV will come soon. A code discovered in recent leaks is that support will be offered for a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Apple has also stopped producing HomePods for the more affordable HomePod Mini.
