A new search feature has arrived for the App Store, the app center for Apple devices. Apple’s monopoly app store has launched its new feature for some countries today to give its users a better experience.
Search tags are quite familiar to us. After searching, you may have seen in many apps that labels are shown at the bottom to get a more suitable result. The output of this feature is based on deep learning. Your searches are interpreted by artificial intelligence and the attributes of the content you want to reach are sorted.
The App Store team announced the new feature with the following tweet:
🗣 Introducing search suggestions on the App Store!— App Store (@AppStore) April 29, 2021
Select (or deselect) multiple suggestions to refine your search so you can find even more amazing apps and games.
Search suggestions roll out today starting with the USA, Canada, the UK, and Australia. pic.twitter.com/viaZHlCZMb
As you can see from the video, shaping the search affects the result. For example, when you search for “food”, you may want to order food; you may want to see recipes or you may want to play cooking games. You will now be able to use tags to easily add this attribute to the search.
Unfortunately, the feature is currently only available for the US, UK, and Australia. It will be available worldwide in the coming days.
One of the drawbacks is that it can’t offer labels for each result because the feature is new. This will change in the coming days. That’s why the feature is currently only available in countries with official English speakers. We are waiting for the creation of the necessary dictionary for all languages, including Turkish.
What do you guys think of the new App Store search feature? Do you think it’ll make things easier?
