Denmark star Christian Eriksen collapsed during Denmark vs Finland match. Paramedics arrived on the field of play to intervene for Eriksen, who was motionless on the ground. CPR was performed on the star footballer. The footballer was taken to hospital and was reportedly conscious.
Denmark and Finland met in the first match of Euro 2020 Group B.
In the 43rd minute of the match, Denmark’s star player Christian Eriksen collapsed in the no-ball area. Eriksen was immobilized on the ground and paramedics intervened.
Paramedics performed CPR on Christian Eriksen, who was then taken out on a stretcher.
UEFA announced Denmark vs Finland match was suspended following the incident.
A statement later stressed that the fight would resume.
UEFA: Eriksen stable
UEFA announced in a statement that Christian Eriksen had been taken to hospital and the player was in a stable condition. UEFA said a further statement would be made later.
“His wife and father are with Eriksen”
Christian Eriksen’s agent Martin Schoots also commented on the player’s condition.
“Christian is alive and able to talk,” Schoots told NPO Radio. His father and his wife are in the hospital with him,” he said.
“Eriksen’s awake, he’s still being examined.”
The Danish Football Association stated Eriksen’s condition. Eriksen woke up and examinations were ongoing, the statement said.
