Oxford’s Vaccine Provides 70 Percent Protection
It was announced that the Corona virus vaccine, developed by the British Oxford University and AstraZeneca company, provided 70 percent protection. It was also stated that the vaccine can provide up to 90 percent protection depending on the application dose.
In the statement made by Oxford University, it was stated that as a result of the trials of the vaccine on volunteers, it was seen that it provided 70 percent protection against the Corona virus. Experts announced that if the vaccine is applied first as a half dose and then as a full dose, it is seen that the protection rate increases up to 90 percent.
Oxford University Vaccination Unit Manager Andrew Pollard said that the vaccine could save millions of lives and prevent human-to-human transmission.
It is stated that it is a serious advantage that the vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford is easy to store and has a lower cost.
The vaccine developed by Oxford University was tested on 20 thousand volunteers. England ordered 100 million vaccines. The USA is among the countries that have ordered Oxford’s vaccine.
It was announced that the vaccine produced by Pfizer and BioNTech provided 95 percent protection, but the necessity to be stored at minus 70 degrees brought up the possibility of problems with the application of the vaccine. Pfizer applied to the US Food and Drug Administration on Friday to obtain emergency use permission.
After Pfizer and BioNTech, the American company Moderna also announced that the vaccine was 95 percent effective.
