The political world in Argentina is in mourning for Transport Minister Mario Meoni. Meoni died after a car accident.
A car accident in Argentina has shaken the country’s agenda deeply. Transport Minister Mario Meoni attended a series of meetings in Rosario with President Alberto Fernández earlier yesterday.
Meoni, 56, was on his way to live with his family in Junín when he was hit by a car he was driving at around 9.30 pm local time. Near San Andrés de Giles, Meoni’s vehicle spun out of control and crashed into barriers. The car was able to flip over and stop as a result of the impact.
Following the catastrophic accident, locals alerted health and police. Meoni was seriously injured in the accident and died despite all the interventions. Meoni was alone in the vehicle at the time of the incident, while an investigation has been launched into the cause of the crash.
Married with two children, Meoni served as mayor of Junin from 2003 to 2015. Meoni, who was in President Alberto Fernández’s cabinet in 2019, has been Minister of Transport ever since.
