More than 60 million people in the West African country of Nigeria are reportedly at risk of illness because they do not have access to clean water.
Data from Nigeria’s Ministry of Water Resources said millions of people in the country still do not have access to water that can be described as safe for human health.
More than 60 million people in the country are at risk of water-related illnesses.
Water Resources Minister Suleiman Hussein Adamu said hundreds of children under the age of 5 die each year in the country from diseases such as cholera.
Pointing out that this situation is alarming, Adamu stressed that the task of providing clean water to the public remains the responsibility of the government.
