Hackers managed to infiltrate McDonald’s computer network, The Wall Street Journal reported. The cyberattack reportedly stole customer data from the U.S., South Korean, and Taiwanese units of the world-famous fast-food chain.
Regulators in South Korea and Taiwan have been notified of the cyberattack. It also says steps will be taken to inform McDonald’s customers affected by the data breach.
The cyberattack allowed hackers to obtain customer information such as email, phone number, and delivery address. It is also reported that data on the company’s Taiwanese employees were also stolen.
McDonald’s announced that it did not receive any requests from hackers and that the incident did not affect the work of its restaurants in any way. The company says a thorough investigation into the attack is underway.
