The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said Israeli attacks on Gaza would continue for at least another 48 hours.
As Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip continue, Israeli Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Aviv Kochavi announced that the military operation would continue for at least another 48 hours.
The IDF said 30 Hamas members were killed in overnight attacks. Three Israelis were wounded in a Hamas attack on the Israeli city of Ashdod in response to Israeli attacks on Gaza.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Health Ministry said the number of people killed in Israeli airstrikes against the Gaza Strip since May 10 had risen to 212, including 61 children and 36 women, and the number of wounded had risen to 1,400.
Clashes between the group and Israeli police, who gathered in front of the Masjid al-Aqsa mosque on May 8 and protested the forced elimination of some Palestinians, escalated abruptly when Palestinian militants responded to the rocket attack with Israeli airstrikes.
Diplomatic efforts to stop the fighting appear to have failed, with U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley warning that violence could spread.
“I foresee the risk of instability and a series of negative consequences if the conflict continues,” Milley told reporters yesterday before going to Brussels to meet with NATO allies. “It is in nobody’s interest to continue the conflict,” he said.
