The total number of cases reached 4,181,607 with the detection of 34,998 new cases in the last 24 hours in the Corona virus (Covid-19) outbreak in France. In France, 16 districts, including the capital Paris, will have a full curfew for four weeks from 00:00 tomorrow night.
Cases and casualties continue to increase in the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak in France. France’s Health Ministry said 34,998 new cases had been identified in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 4,146,609.
In the last 24 hours, 268 people have died due to Covid-19, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 91,679. A total of 25,389 people are being treated in hospitals across the country, including 4,246 in intensive care.
In the country where the Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines were administered, 5,748,698 people were vaccinated against Covid-19, while 2,393,568 people received both doses of the vaccine.
Stating that the Covid-19 outbreak in France resembles the third wave, French Prime Minister Jean Castex announced at a press conference that a regional curfew has been declared in the country. The curfew will be enforced for four weeks from 00:00 tomorrow night in 16 provinces including 8 provinces in the Ile-de-France region, alpes maritimes province, Seine-Maritime province, Eure province, Haut-de-France region. Interregional travel will also be restricted, except for mandatory travel.
In the 16 regions where these new restrictions will be enforced, schools and essential stores will remain open, Castex added. Castex said that under the restrictions, which begin tomorrow night, it will be possible to leave within 10 kilometers of the house for hiking or exercising.
Castex said that the nationwide curfew from 18.00 will start at 19.00 from next Saturday.
Announcing the government’s vaccination target, Castex said, “We aim to vaccinate at least 10 million people by mid-April, at least 20 million by mid-May, and 30 million by mid-June.”
Recalling the opinion issued by the European Medicines Agency regarding the AstraZeneca vaccine, Castex said, “Starting tomorrow morning, the High Health Authority will update its recommendation on the AstraZeneca vaccine so that we can continue the vaccination campaign starting tomorrow afternoon.”
France suspended the use of the Covid-19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca on Monday as a precaution, saying it caused blood clotting.
