A man has died of a blood clot after being vaccinated against AstraZeneca in the Canadian province of Alberta.
A woman in her 50s living in Alberta, Canada, has reportedly died from a blood clotting side effect after receiving the Covishield vaccine, developed by oxford university and AstraZeneca. Alberta Provincial Health Minister Dr. Deena Hinshaw said clotting could occur in an estimated 100,000 to 250,000 vaccines. Hinshaw said the identity of the woman who lost her life to protect patient confidentiality would not be disclosed. The use of the AstraZeneca vaccine in many countries was halted due to the side effect of blood clotting. In Canada, two people linked to the vaccine had side effects.
The European Medicines Agency (EMA), which re-examined the possible side effects of the AstraZeneca vaccine against the coronavirus, such as blood clotting, reported that the AstraZeneca vaccine was “safe and effective.” The EMA also reiterated that it believes the benefits of the AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19 outlier than their risks.
