The shooting in New York’s famous Times Square has raised the number of wounded, including a 4-year-old boy, to three.
In the U.S., New York Police Department Commissioner Dermot Shea said at a news conference that in the evening in Times Square, 45th Street and 7th Street were the only areas of the city. He said gunshots were heard near the street.
A 4-year-old girl was wounded in the leg in the attack and will undergo surgery, Shea said, adding that one of the other two was injured as a tourist and both were taken to hospital.
Witnesses who spoke to police said the shooting was caused by a dispute involving two to four men, and that a 4-year-old girl and two people, one of whom was a tourist, were targeted as a result of the shooting.
While the suspect has not yet been apprehended, police posted a video on Twitter of the man believed to have opened fire and have requested information about him.
