Sony has released a new video for retrospective PS4 gaming support, announced at the PlayStation 5 launch. The company, which designed the logo for its game boost feature, also gave console players hope for the future.
PS4 game support is branded with the PS5 Game Boost feature
With the launch of the PS5, Sony came up with a long-awaited policy of retrospective gaming support. Sony is on its way to branding for the PS5 feature, which was mentioned at the launch as Game Boost.
Sony showed users the logo of the feature for the first time along with its short promotional video. The branding effort of this feature has led to comments from Sony about whether it will further expand its retrospective gaming support.
The main expectation for PS4 gaming support is to improve the retrospective support already provided. Currently, Sony supports over 4,000 PS4 games on its PS5 console.
Microsoft, Sony’s biggest competitor in the console market, is much more experienced in retrospective support. The company has also successfully adapted Xbox One games to the Xbox Series X console.
PlayStation players expect Sony to repeat the feat. Sony’s efforts to make Game Boost a brand are important in this respect.
What to look out for PS5 Game Boost
Sony has posted some tips for retrospective PS4 gaming support on its PS5 blog. Accordingly, PS5 supports over 4,000 games for backward compliance, as we mentioned earlier. Here’s what to look out for backward compliance:
- Selected PS4 games can take advantage of the Game Boost feature on the PS5 console. This feature can make PS4 games run at a higher or smoother frame rate.
- Although many PS4 games can be played on PS5 consoles, some functionality available on PS4 consoles may not be available on PS5 consoles. In addition, some PS4 games may fail or exhibit unexpected behavior when played on PS5 consoles.
- Please try playing your PS4 games on your PS5 console to see if you will be satisfied with the gaming experience before purchasing add-ons to play with your PS4 games on PS5 consoles.
- Always update your PS5 system with the latest version of the system software.
