In 2004, Sega announced Total War: Rome Remastered, a redeveloped version of the strategy game Total War: Rome, developed by Creative Assembly. The game is scheduled for release on April 29.
Developed in collaboration with Feral Interactive, Total War: Rome Remastered will add visual enhancements and new gameplay mechanics to the original game.
Total War: Rome Remastered will include both the main game and two expansion packs (Barbarian Invasion and Alexander). The game will also come with ultra-high resolution 4K visuals and you will be able to play at that resolution on the platform you purchased without doing anything extra. The revamped atmosphere, battlefield and character models will adapt to the game’s improved look.
As for gameplay, 16 previously unplayable divisions have been added and 22 divisions in the original version of the game will be included in the redeveloped version. In addition, new Merchant agents have been added to the game that you can send to missions to set up trading networks.
Modern touches were made to the game’s story mode, including tactical maps for battles, heat maps that can be used during operation mode, and company icons. The diplomatic system has been overhauled, the camera has become reversible on the operational map, and the zoom levels on the camera have been increased.
For beginners, improved help system, a redesigned training mode, in-game WIki, advice and tip support, and improved support for colorblind players have been added to the game.
The game’s multiplayer mode will have cross-platform support on Windows, macOS and Linux. The Remastered package will also provide access to the original Rome: Total War Collection, but this will only be playable on Windows PCs.
You can pre-order Total War: Rome Remastered on Steam starting today. In addition, players who own the original version of the game on Steam will be able to get Total War: Rome Remastered at a 50% discount until June 1st.
