Samsung Display has announced that it will expand its presence in the gaming-specific smartphone and laptop market with OLED displays optimized for high-resolution gaming content.
Samsung Display, a display manufacturer, said the 6.78-inch OLED panel was used in Asus ROG Phone 5, released last week, and aims to sell more OLED displays to game makers. Samsung, as it is known, supplies 15.6-inch UHD OLED panels to brands of the best gaming laptops, including Razer.
Samsung continues to show breakthroughs in OLED display technology
“Our OLED Display has valuable features suitable for world-class gaming content, such as fast response time and less blue light emissions,” Lee Ho-jung, vice president of Samsung Display’s mobile display product planning team, said in a company statement.
The new Samsung OLED panel provides better protection for the eye, it said. Samsung, on the other hand, says that the OLED laptop display panel is made especially for games with fast frame transitions.
The company says its latest display supports a refresh rate of 120 Hz or higher and specializes in fast-screen transition game content. Samsung also announced that it has received a “Continuous Display” certificate from SGS and is known for its uninterrupted natural image quality.
Samsung claims that the OLED panel records the highest specifications in the industry in two categories, with a blurry length of less than 0.7 millimeters and a moving image response time of less than 11 milliseconds.
The Samsung Display panel also received an “Eye Care Display” certificate from SGS, which reduces blue light emissions to 6.5 percent, giving users better eye protection.
Samsung says adaptive frequency technology in the OLED panel can be combined with VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) technology. If this happens, we are likely to see laptops that automatically adjust the refresh rate according to the video content in each frame.
Samsung Display entered the OLED panel segment in 2019 and supplies 15.6-inch UHD OLED panels to major global manufacturers. Let’s also mention that blade stealth 13, introduced by Razer last year, has a Samsung Display 13.3-inch FHD OLED panel.
