Sony has made its decision on the long-discussed PS4 communities. Playstation 4 communities will be closed by April 2021.
Announced in September 2015, it was decided to remove “Communities”, which improved the Playstation ecosystem and its sociality. The closure of playstation 4 player communities brings with it a lot of speculation. Sony’s removal of the ability to create custom communities last year received a lot of backlash. However, following the demand the Playstation 5 received on pre-order, one wondered what Sony would do.
After Sony released the Playstation 5, it withdrew its full support from ps3. Such a move on the Playstation 4 raises the question, “Is Sony trying to completely remove its support for the Playstation 4?” Players in the Playstation community were known to help each other in many ways, sometimes even forming family groups. Sony’s move raises questions about the future of the current console.
Is Sony getting rid of communities completely?
Many Playstation players think the move is to get rid of Communities completely, as there are no communities on Playstation 5. Sony had to devote significant resources to audio and written community servers. Thanks to the “Communities” feature created by users with common features, it was quite easy to find partners in mmo and co-op games.
With Sony turning off this feature in April 2021, players will have to look for new platforms to build a community. Of course, Sony is also expected to remove many features from the Playstation 4. The Example of the Wii U covers the entire most commonly shown event here. There is speculation that similar features will be removed from Playstation 4, such as the Wii U, which has been removed from Netflix support. At the end of the day, a scenario where suddenly the Playstation 4 device we have will be dysfunctional can be quite annoying.
