GingerOfOz, known for its console modes, made a new console using the PlayStation 2 motherboard. Please find in our article the details of the project called PlayStation 2 Eclipse.
GingerOfOz’s new project is very interesting. It is known for its portable Wii console projects in the console world. GingerOfOz brought a portable PlayStation 2, one of the most popular consoles of all time, with the PS2 Eclipse project.
The PS2 Eclipse comes with keys taken from Playstation Vita, Nintendo Switch Joy-Con analog arms, a special 3D-designed body, a faucet, and a 5inch screen with 480p resolution. The PlayStation 2 integrates all these with the original PlayStation 2 board and exclusive circuits.
Unlike portable game consoles powered by small computers such as the Raspberry Pi, Eclipse operates directly as a PlayStation 2 instead of emulation. Eclipse can therefore make most of the PlayStation 2 games, which has more than 4,000 games, run without any problem. The console, which has a battery life of approximately 2-3 hours, runs games using USB memory to decrease performance during game loading times. It also features Eclipse, a faucet display, a console-integrated speaker, and a 3.5mm headset input.
Eclipse, as GingerOfOz explains, can play most games comfortably but sometimes cause problems. The system sometimes has difficulty recognizing the analogs from the Nintendo Switch and the games do not open as there are no controllers. GingerOfOz plans to solve these problems in the future with a software update.
The Playstation 2 Eclipse, unfortunately, is not going to be sold. GingerOfOz, a manufacturer of many hand consoles, specified that console projects are very tiring. If you want to relive in your possession on Playstation for 2 days, you will have to make your own project.
