Epic Games, the maker of Fortnite, acquired the social video app Houseparty for $1.25 billion in 2019. Now the company has taken an important step to integrate these two popular products.
Players will now be allowed to stream Fortnite games live directly on Houseparty, epic games have announced. The beloved video app will support up to nine users sharing at the same time.
With Houseparty integration, Fortnite live streams are now more practical
In November last year, the company added a houseparty-powered video chat feature to Fortnite. The innovation, released under the name Fortnite Mode, included simultaneous screen sharing during the game. But the new feature seems to be in complete line with that. Epic Games was considering moving Houseparty to Fortnite last year; Now he’s doing the opposite.
To use the new feature, players still have to run a function called Fortnite Mode. Then you have to connect to Houseparty. When they are ready to share the game screen, their friends at Houseparty receive notifications and start watching and interacting with the game. Users can see the number of instant viewers in the upper-left corner of the screen.
For now, it only works on certain platforms
In the first phase, Houseparty integration with Fortnite is only available on PC, PS4, and PS5 devices. Epic Games has not announced when this feature will be available on other platforms. On the other hand, he said, users at Houseparty will be able to watch live streams via iOS, Android and Chrome.
The company says it will not offer the option to export such live streams to share them later on another platform. However, contrary to this description, Fortnite already has the option to save replays. Therefore, videos can be easily transferred to YouTube-like channels.
