Neil Druckmann, director and screenwriter of The Last of Us (TLOU), gave some details about the third game in the series. He got a lot of reaction to TLOU 2’s script. He even said he received death threats at one point. Neil Druckmann’s script was satisfying for some actors. For some actors, the journey of revenge for the main character Ellie is unsatisfactory.
Speaking on an episode of the Script Apart podcast about TLOU 2, Neil Druckmann briefly mentioned the sequel. “I don’t know how much I want to explain,” Druckmann said on the podcast. I drafted a story for The Last of Us 3 that we didn’t write. I hope this draft I have prepared can see the light of day.”
Druckmann said there was a lot of controversy about game three of the series. But he also said it was too much trouble to make such a game a reality. Druckmann says he has been thinking and working on the second game of the series for seven years.
“Now we have two games where I feel like I’m talking about something universal and telling a very personal story for these characters. We had no idea what the first game was. Together with the second game, we created a pattern. Now when we do the third game, I feel that there are some structures and themes that we need to stick to the first two games.”
The game’s developer Naughty Dog is exploring what to do for the next game. Neil Druckmann is scheduled to write the story of the third play. It has been previously claimed that Naughty Dog is working on a Last of Us multiplayer game, a new Uncharted project, and a remake of Last of Us.
