Activision‘s worst-kept secret has finally been given a reveal date. Mark your calendars for May 30th, for that is when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (no, not this one) is set to be revealed to the world. Thanks to a heap of insider leaks and industry talk, the name and general outline of the game itself have already been leaked. The name, obviously, is the same as a previous Call of Dutytitle. Additionally, the new game is being treated as a “soft reboot”. This means that the game will still likely follow the same basic structure of the original Modern Warfare, but things will be changed or altered to fit the new direction.

Modern Warfare has been claimed to be inspired by the “No Russian” mission in Modern Warfare 2, due to the “troubling, realistic emotional moments” in the series and especially that mission. This implies that Activision may be aiming for a more grounded and emotionally resonant retelling of the events of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. What will be revealed on May 30th? Possibly a release date, maybe some game footage, just have to wait and see how Infinity Ward tackle it.
