The developer of PlayerUnknown’s BattleGround (PUBG) has released a teaser for a new game called Battlegrounds Mobile India, specially designed for the country.
Last September, the Indian government banned PUBG Mobile and 118 other Chinese apps over data security concerns. The IP holding company had sought to distance itself from the game’s distributors in India, Tencent, to lift the ban.
15 million players are eagerly awaiting the return of the game
Two months after those efforts, Krafton said he aimed to somehow bring the game back to the country. The firm also pledged to invest $100 million in the local gaming community.
Not much is known about the game except the fact that it will be a battle royale game. However, the published teaser suggests that the upcoming game may look like a banned game. Krafton announced in a statement that there will be a pre-registration period before the official launch of the game in the country.
Before it was banned, PUBG Mobile was one of the most popular games in India with more than 15 million active users. That’s why so many players are looking forward to the game’s return.
