America has begun working on new legislation to ban GTA V. If this law passes, GTA 6 may never come out. Here are the details.
Rockstar Games’ popular game GTA manages to find its place in the agenda from time to time. Usually this news is aimed at banning GTA. Today, it turns out that America is working on legislation to ban GTA V.
U.S. State Assemblyman Marcus Evans Jr wants to ban “violent” video games because of the rise in car theft cases, according to TalkESport. When you think of car theft and violence, you’ve noticed that GTA V comes directly to mind. If this happens and GTA V is banned in the United States, hopes for GTA 6 will be dashed.
The bill comes after political activist Early Walker attributed the frequent violence and car thefts in Chicago to video games. Walker cited “Grand Theft Auto V” as an example of a violent video game. Walker believes banning the sale of such games could reduce crime. State Assemblyman Evans accepted Walker’s proposal and submitted the bill to the Illinois State Assembly.
GTA 5, which surpassed the recent 140 million copy sales milestone, will soon come to the next generation of consoles this year. If this law is approved, the developer’s job will be very difficult. That’s why Rockstar needs to release GTA V for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series before it becomes law.
