Carsten Intra, a senior executive at German automotive giant Volkswagen, announced that the company’s all-electric minibus will be launched in Europe in 2022.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Manager Carsten Intra shared details of his plans to bring the all-electric ID Buzz van to market.
Intra said the van will be unveiled in Europe next year. In this region, it will be offered in passenger and commercial versions, as well as standard and extended versions. In the United States, the van will be released in 2023, where it is scheduled to be available only in the passenger version with an expanded base.
Id Buzz will have three versions of its battery capacity. The base model will be equipped with a rear-wheel drive system and its electric motor will be 200 horsepower. The most expensive modification is all-wheel drive and will produce power at the level of 300 horsepower.
In Europe, the commercial version of ID Buzz is planned to be presented as a fully autonomous vehicle with an advanced autopilot system, among other features. However, this option will come out a little later than normal models. Id Buzz production will also be held in Hanover. Various electric crossover models of the Volkswagen group will also be produced at this factory. The price of Volkswagen’s Electric van is not yet clear.
