A Chinese company called Beijing Estech Technology has applied for a patent for the original electric mini Cooper.
China has secured a prominent place in the automotive industry with its recent breakthroughs. The country, which has long been the subject of replicas of the famous models of big brands, is now unveiling its unique models, thanks to the many successful designers and engineers who own them. However, these recent patent images show that China has not completely abandoned its old habits.
A Chinese company, Beijing Estech Technology, has filed a patent for the design, which is seen as the original MINI Cooper, reports Auto News China. In some design details, the overall design and dimensions of the vehicle, separated from the classic model, look the same. Apart from the electric motor, of course. The original MINI, built from 1959 to 2000, is one of the most iconic models in the automotive industry. The Chinese copy of the vehicle is protected almost one by one with iconic design elements, while the bonnet is equipped with an electric motor adapted to the present. The vehicle’s old-style antenna is duplicated on the sleek chrome bumpers, mirrors, and windscreen wipers, and is also featured in the patent image. But there are differences. The first detail that stands out is the battery units which are located under the vehicle. While the vehicle’s proportions appear to have been maintained, the Chinese manufacturer may have increased the size for a larger interior volume. The size of the vehicle is not included in the patent images, so we don’t know.
It is not yet known when this electric copy of the MINI Cooper will be presented. We are also interested in the comments of BMW, the owner of MINI, on this subject. And what do you think of this “Clone MINI Cooper”? You can share your feedback with us in the comment section.
